This July we are excited to announce the 2020 Legacy Release - The Torv Ring. 

Set with a classic round cabochon cut gem offset with contrasting square geometry, this ring embodies the characteristic Scandinavian aesthetic that was prevalent through Jen's work in the 60's and 70's. This style was a lot of the inspiration for the ring that was designed for the Lord of the Rings films, a heavy minimalistic and tactile band.

The word 'Torv' in Danish translates to 'Square', a reference to the architecture simplicity of modernist design, as well as the social focal point of a city  - 'The Square'. 

Every July to mark Jens Hansen's birthday we choose one historical piece to bring to life as part of the Legacy Collection - a selection of authentic designs recreated by hand from our workshop's original production archives. 

Each piece is made-to-order with the metal and gem of your choice and bears the special edition anniversary serial number, authenticating it as a Legacy Collection piece. It will also come with a certificate of Jen's original workshop sketches, 

We are proud of this piece and the family legacy that it holds -  we hope you enjoy this design from the creative mind of The Ringmaker himself.

July Birthstone - Ruby

As the Birthstone for July, and the anniversary gem for the 40th anniversary, Ruby is widely renowned as one of the most precious coloured gems - with larger, blood red rubies becoming increasingly rare in the modern market. Our interpretation of the Sir Ians' character Gandalf's* ring holds a beautiful blood red ruby. 

With a hardness and strength just one scale below diamond, they have excellent durability and longevity - many rubies being coveted through generations. 

Note* - This ring was not in the films, this is our own interpretation post production. It is a statement of record that for the Peter Jackson Lord of the Rings movie trilogy we made the One Ring in all its appearances and Vilya, ring of Elrond.

Featured Staff Member - Maddy Hansen 

Maddy is our social media coordinator and graphic designer. She curates our Instagram and Facebook presence. As Jens' granddaughter she has grown up with innate understanding of the family history and the Scandinavian jewellery aesthetic which she artfully portrays through her photographs. We love having Maddy on board - she never fails to inspire us with a bold fashion move or an infectious laugh!
